Music is considered the universal language. It seems it’s the one thing that everyone from all over the world understands. My parents were not musically inclined but that didn’t stop my father from buying a ‘banduria’ hoping one of us would learn how to use/play it. Nope, none of us learned how to play that instrument. Did that stop my father from encouraging us to learn how to play a musical instrument? Not quite. He bought a guitar after that. Did it work? Yes! Four out of his 5 kids know how to play the guitar now, me included.
My husband and I both love music. We are trying to encourage the little one here to learn how to play an instrument. At present, she is interested in learning every single one of them. I’m teaching her how to play the guitar. But she really wants to learn how to play the piano. I’ve been looking for a good place for her to start learning that. That’s when I’ve read about sight reading music. Apparently, many people who want to play the piano struggle when it comes to piano sight reading. Interesting, isn’t it?
I was part of my high school choir. I played the guitar while another friend played the piano. Both me and my friend never learned how to read notes. Everything we knew then were just self-taught. We couldn’t afford to hire someone to teach us. Learning to do sight reading music would have been a great help to us. I wish I had the chance to learn that so I can pass it on to our little one.I think that that will make it easier for her to learn how to play the piano when the time comes we enroll her to a piano class. I wonder if I should start learning too how to do sight reading music? I’m sure it’s never too late to do that or is it?
