That's what we call the last 4 months of the year in the Philippines. Obviously, it's because of the last syllable of the months. It used to be that as soon as September comes, we would start seeing Christmas decors in the different commercial places like malls or department stores. Some radio stations [and TV stations] would start playing Christmas carols.
"Used to be" because nowadays, department stores or malls put up anything & everything Christmas related much earlier. I'm sure they're just trying to drum up their businesses but it just gets earlier and earlier every year. It kind of kills the excitement in my opinion...but such is life. All we can do is to bear with it, I guess.
Here in the US, Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas are all celebrated during the 'ber' months. You can just imagine how much decorations are being put up in the stores around here. In the Philippines, Christmas is the only 'big' occasion they're waiting for...although Halloween is starting to catch up in some 'high-end' places [read: affluent]. At least there people are not getting "decoration overload"....or do they? I've been away for a few years so I'm not sure anymore.
Anyway, here's wishing us all a great last quarter of 2009 !
